The Role of Serial Serum Carbohydrate Antigen 19‐9 Surveillance to Detect Recurrences after Curative Resection for Gallbladder Carcinoma

A single-centre retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database showing that CA 19-9 surveillance detects recurrence in gallbladder cancer with modest sensitivity (45.6% for serial rise) and high specificity (95.3%), with a median lead time of 5.4 weeks before radiological detection.
