Interventional Study.
No findings were extractable from the material analysed.
Safety was not reported in the material analysed. Check the source before drawing any conclusion about harm.
The source did not state who this applies to in practice.
Graded across the dimensions that decide whether you should act, each from what the source actually supports. There is no single score, and where a dimension was not assessed it says so.
This record has not been graded across any dimension yet. Treat the label above as provisional and read the source.
What is missing. This record has no bottom line, key findings, reported figures, evidence dimensions. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT07898267). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Recruitment status: NOT_YET_RECRUITING. Phase: NA. Study type: INTERVENTIONAL. Enrollment: 150 participants (ESTIMATED). Conditions: Obesity & Overweight. Interventions: DIETARY_SUPPLEMENT: Akkermansia Supplement; DIETARY_SUPPLEMENT: Placebo Supplement. Primary outcome measures: Percentage Change in Body Weight from Baseline at Week 12 , Baseline and Week 12. Brief summary: Overweight and obesity are common metabolic disorders associated with increased risks of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other health problems. The gut microbiota plays an important role in regulating metabolism, inflammation, and intestinal health. Akkermansia, a beneficial gut bacterium, has been associated with metabolic health and may have potential benefits for weight management. This study aims to investigate the relationship between gut microbiota characteristics and overweight or obesity and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Akkermansia supplementation in individuals with overweight or obesity. The study consists of two stages. The first stage is an observational study comparing gut microbiota characteristics between healthy individuals and individuals with overweight or obesity. The second stage is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial in which eligible participants with overweight or obesity will receive either Akkermansia supplementation or placebo once daily for 12 weeks, followed by follow-up through Week 24. The study will evaluate changes in body weight, metabolic health, gut microbiota characteristics, related metabolites, and safety outcomes. The findings may provide clinical evidence regarding the potential use of Akkermansia supplementation for the management of overweight and obesity.
