Sarcopenic Obesity / THERABand resistance exercise bands · Interventional Study
ClinicalTrials.gov · August 14, 2026
Early or partial results. Treat as a signal, not a conclusion.
This is a completed single-arm feasibility study of 11 older adults with sarcopenic obesity who underwent 24 weeks of at-home chair-based resistance band training. The registry record reports only the primary feasibility outcome measure (adherence ≥50% at 24 weeks) and study design; no outcome data are posted.
Interventional, Single Group, Open label, Other purpose. Sarcopenic Obesity; age from 50 Years. Intervention: Chair-based resistance band training. n = 11. 1 site: United States.
Primary outcome: feasibility assessed by adherence to prescribed exercise regimen at least 50% of the time over 24 weeks
Safety was not reported in the material analysed. Check the source before drawing any conclusion about harm.
Clinicians should recognize this as preliminary work determining whether a chair-based resistance band protocol is feasible to deliver and adhere to in this population. No efficacy data for balance, strength, or bone density are reported here.
This is a completed feasibility study with 11 participants assessing adherence and protocol implementation; no efficacy results are reported in this registry record.

Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06671847). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: The University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston. Recruitment status: COMPLETED. Phase: NA. Study type: INTERVENTIONAL. Enrollment: 11 participants (ACTUAL). Conditions: Sarcopenic Obesity. Interventions: DEVICE: THERABand resistance exercise bands. Primary outcome measures: Feasibility as assessed by the number of people who are able to follow the prescribed exercise regimen at least 50 percent of the time , end of study (24 weeks from baseline). Brief summary: The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of implementing a 24-week at-home chair-based resistance band training intervention, to determine effectiveness of a the a 24-week at-home chair-based resistance band training intervention in improving body composition and to determine the effectiveness of a 24-week at-home chair-based resistance band training intervention in improving physical performance in adults 50 years and older, receiving care at the UT Physicians Center for Healthy Aging.
