ClinicalTrials.gov · August 11, 2026
Early or partial results. Treat as a signal, not a conclusion.
This is a prospective observational study registered at ClinicalTrials.gov to investigate the incidence of postoperative delirium after gastroesophageal cancer surgery and its relationship to frailty, depression, and quality of life. No results have been reported in this registry record; the study is actively recruiting and data collection is ongoing.
Observational. Gastroesophageal Cancer (GC), Postoperative Delirium (POD), Quality of Life (QOL), Frailty, Malnutrition, Sarcopenia, Chemobrain, Chemotherapy, Depression; age from 18 Years. Intervention: Participants identified with postoperative delirium; CASE-study participants. n = 130. 1 site: Sweden.

What is missing. This record has no key findings. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06687291). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: Karolinska Institutet. Recruitment status: RECRUITING. Study type: OBSERVATIONAL. Enrollment: 130 participants (ESTIMATED). Conditions: Gastroesophageal Cancer (GC), Postoperative Delirium (POD), Quality of Life (QOL), Frailty, Malnutrition, Sarcopenia, Chemobrain, Chemotherapy, Depression. Primary outcome measures: Incidence of postoperative delirium , From enrollment to the follow up meeting after surgery, approximate 6 months.. Brief summary: The primary objective of this observational study is to investigate the incidence of Post Operative Delirium (POD) after gastroesophageal cancer surgery. Secondary objectives are to investigate the relationship between POD, preoperative depression, frailty, quality of life, malnutrition and sarcopenia. Participants identified with POD will be asked (at the routine follow-up meeting after surgery) to participate in an qualitative interview, in order to understand the participant's experience of postoperative delirium. The main objective aims to answer: What is the incidence of POD after gastroesophageal cancer surgery.
