Observational Study.
No findings were extractable from the material analysed.
Safety was not reported in the material analysed. Check the source before drawing any conclusion about harm.
The source did not state who this applies to in practice.
Graded across the dimensions that decide whether you should act, each from what the source actually supports. There is no single score, and where a dimension was not assessed it says so.
This record has not been graded across any dimension yet. Treat the label above as provisional and read the source.
What is missing. This record has no bottom line, key findings, reported figures, evidence dimensions. That is a gap in the analysis, not a judgement about the study.
Registry record from ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT07878299). This is a study registration, not published results. Lead sponsor: Sultan Abdulhamid Han Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey. Recruitment status: RECRUITING. Study type: OBSERVATIONAL. Enrollment: 200 participants (ESTIMATED). Conditions: Lipedema, Obesity, Body Mass Index, Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. Interventions: OTHER: Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis; OTHER: Numeric Rating Scale; OTHER: Lower Extremity Functional Scale; OTHER: Short Form-12; OTHER: Clinical Staging. Primary outcome measures: Ratio of the total fat mass of the two legs to total body fat mass , Baseline. Brief summary: The aim of this study is to compare the total and regional body composition characteristics of women with lipedema and women without lipedema who are matched for age and body mass index, as determined by the TANITA MC-580 segmental bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) device. In addition to total fat mass and fat percentage, fat mass, fat-free mass, and muscle mass measurements of the right and left legs, right and left arms, and trunk are planned to be evaluated. From these measurements, regional distribution indicators such as the proportion of lower extremity fat mass within total body fat, the leg-to-trunk fat ratio, the leg-to-arm fat ratio, and the leg muscle-to-fat ratio will be calculated. In addition, the study aims to examine the relationships between segmental body composition characteristics and disease type and stage, disease duration, pain severity, and lower extremity function in the lipedema group. Hypothesis: The proportion of total body fat located in the lower extremities is significantly higher in women with lipedema compared to women without lipedema matched for age and body mass index.
